Murray could meet Andy Roddick in the semi-finals in Memphis |
Andy Murray fought back from 4-2 down in the final set to beat Canada's Frank Dancevic 6-3 4-6 6-4 in the first round of the Memphis International. The British number one reached the third round last year and will climb higher than his current 13th spot in the world rankings if he betters that.
Murray, 19, dominated the first set but world number 95 Dancevic battled back, forcing the Scot to dig deep.
"I must give him credit," said Murray, last week's San Jose Open winner.

"I think he missed about two first serves in the whole of the second set and hardly missed a ball.
"I stopped serving as well. When I lost my serve at the start of the second set I lost my rhythm a little bit and he started playing well.
"But it's all about fighting and coming through those matches and I managed to do that really well."
Murray's second-round opponent will be Dane Kristian Pless, whom he beat on the way to retaining his San Jose crown.
