Ivanovic improved her ranking 80 places to world number 14 in 2006 |
Ana Ivanovic reached the quarter-finals of the Australian Women's Hardcourt Championships thanks to a 6-1 6-2 demolition of Milagros Sequera. The third seed won in just 45 minutes and will meet Shahar Peer of Israel, who beat Olga Poutchkova 6-3 6-2, in the last eight on the Gold Coast.
"I was feeling much better moving on the court than the last match and my serve was pretty good," said Ivanovic.
Dinara Safina will next meet Samantha Stosur after both won on Wednesday.
Second seed Safina beat fellow Russian Maria Kirilenko 6-2 7-5, and Australia's Stosur beat compatriot Sophie Ferguson (Australia) 6-3 6-4.
