Murray was seeded 17th for the US Open at Flushing Meadows |
Andy Murray has targeted a place in the world's top 10 after losing to Nikolay Davydenko in the fourth round of the US Open in New York. Murray, who is set to move up from his current ranking of 19th in the world, is also aiming for a place at the season-ending Shanghai Masters.
"I'd love to get into the top 10," he said. "I don't have too many points to defend until Wimbledon next year.
"There's an outside chance of getting into Shanghai and I'd love to do it."
Murray looked out of sorts in his 6-1 5-7 6-3 6-0 defeat to Davydenko and was quickly despatched when play resumed on Wednesday.
The 19-year-old, who admitted Davydenko deserved the win, said he was now planning to take a rest.
"I just want to take a break now, I think I've earned it," added Murray.
"Fourth round is not a bad result but, obviously, I would have liked to have done better."
