Henman (left) and Murray are playing doubles in Monte Carlo |
Tim Henman says Andy Murray must take his time over finding a new coach and building a relationship with him after splitting from Mark Petchey. The 18-year-old parted company with Petchey last week after 10 months together and Henman said such a vital next career step should not be rushed.
"If you are starting a relationship from scratch it's inevitable it'll take a little bit of time," said Henman.
"But whether that happened in a month or a year, that's Andy's decision."
Henman has given the British number one advice before, particularly on how to deal with life in the media spotlight, and will play doubles with him at the Monte Carlo Masters this week.
And he said if Murray wanted any advice from him on recruiting a new coach, he would be happy to offer it.
"I have got enough of my own issues to concentrate on but if he wants my advice, and we have sat down and talked about different things, then absolutely I would be there," he said.
"It perhaps happened a bit quicker than we might have expected.
"But they did a lot of good things together and that is an important aspect to focus on.
