British number three Andy Murray reached the quarter-finals of the Granby Challenger with a 6-3 7-5 win over Romanian Florin Mergea. Mergea, 20, had little answer to Murray's powerful game as the Briton set up a last-eight meeting with either Eric Nunez or Gregory Carraz.
Murray, 18, has already won a Challenger title this year, triumphing at Aptos, California, a fortnight ago.
His world ranking has soared to 156 in the last two months.
