Defending champion Greg Rusedski will face Vince Spadea in the final of the Hall of Fame Championships in Newport after posting two wins on Saturday. After rain washed out most of the scheduled play on Friday, Rusedski had to make an early start.
He battled past France's Anthony Dupuis 7-6 (7-3) 6-4 to set up a semi-final with Wesley Moodie and then edged past the South African 7-6 (7-2) 6-4.
Spadea beat fellow American Paul Goldstein 7-6 (8-6) 6-2.
"Every time I've been in a final here, I've won," said Rusedski, who also won here in 1993. "It'd be nice to defend."
The final will be the first contested by two players over the age of 30 on the ATP Tour since 2003.
Spadea later pulled out of a doubles match but said his withdrawal was a precaution.
"I want to give my best, give my all in the singles final," said the American.
Rusedski has won three of the four past meetings between the two, with the last of those wins a 7-6 4-6 6-1 success at last year's Nottingham event prior to Wimbledon.
The Briton famously lost to Spadea in the first round at WImbledon in 2000, ending an ATP record 21-match losing streak for the American.
