Tim Henman survived a mid-match slump to beat Spain's Tommy Robredo in the fourth round of the Pacific Life Open. Two double faults saw Henman broken to go 2-3 down in the opening set, but he broke back twice to win the set.
The sixth seed failed to repeat the recovery in the second, but a break in the third helped him win 6-4 2-6 6-2.
Henman faces Guillermo Canas in the quarter-finals after Taylor Dent retired from their match with a stomach virus after losing the first set 6-3.
"I felt in my matches that my rhythm in between points hasn't been great," Henman said of his mid-match problems.
"That was the one thing I did well in the third set. I really picked up the level in the third, which is a good sign."
