| Venus Williams has pulled out of the Kremlin Cup, which starts on Monday, with a knee injury. Wimbledon champion Williams suffered the problem at the China Open last month and has not played since. The American was seeded third for the lucrative tournament in Moscow but will now be replaced by French Open and US Open finalist Mary Pierce. Williams' withdrawal is a blow to the competition organisers after Marat Safin also pulled out with an injury.
