Venus Williams will miss next week's WTA event in Guangshou after being forced to pull out of the China Open with a knee injury. Williams suffered the injury in her match against Nuria Llagostera Vives.
Despite easily winning that contest 6-3 6-1, the American third seed received treatment on her left knee which was taped near the end.
"I was able to finish the match but I'm not in a condition to play professional tennis now," she said.
"I hope to return to Beijing, now I have time to do some sightseeing and shopping."
