Wimbledon champion Maria Sharapova has qualified for the season-ending Tour Championships for the first time. The Russian will make her debut in the Los Angeles event after her run to the final in Zurich last week clinched qualification.
Sharapova joins Lindsay Davenport, Amelie Mauresmo, Ana Myskina, Svetlana Kuznetsova and Elena Dementieva.
Serena and Venus Williams, Jennifer Capriati and Vera Zvonareva will fight for the remaining two spots.
The top eight singles players and the top four doubles teams qualify for the Championships at the Staples Center, LA, from 10-15 November.
