Dementieva is ranked fifth in the world |
Russia's Elena Dementieva has qualified for the women's end-of-season Tour Championships after reaching the final of last week's Kremlin Cup. Dementieva lost to Anastasia Myskina in Moscow but has had her most successful ever season on the WTA Tour.
She was runner-up at both the French and US Opens and is the third Russian woman to make the eight-player event.
Lindsay Davenport and Amelie Mauresmo have also qualified for November's tournament in Los Angeles.
Svetlana Kuznetsova, who beat Dementieva in the final of the US Open, is the other Russian already on board.
Three spots are still up for grabs with two more Russians competing to make the line-up.
Wimbledon champion Maria Sharapova and Vera Zvonareva both play at the Zurich Challenge this week.
The top eight singles players and the top four doubles teams qualify for the Championships and the singles winner gets $1m.
