Wimbledon champion Roger Federer moved into the final of the Swiss Open with a three-set win over Potito Starace. Federer came through 6-3 3-6 6-3 to set up a final against Igor Andreev, who beat third seed Rainer Schuettler 6-2 3-6 7-6 (8-6).
Starace was a shock winner over defending champion Jiri Novak on Friday, but Federer held his nerve in the third set despite a rain break.
Andreev wasted two match points before seeing off Schuettler in a tie-break.
Federer has had a tough week coming on the back of his Wimbledon triumph and is hopeful that Sunday's final will be reduced from its traditional five sets because of the weather.
"I'm definitely exhausted," said Federer.
"I'm very tired but I'm trying everything I can to do well in front of the fans here because they paid a lot of money to come and I'm having a lot of fun myself.
"I'm really hoping the final's best of three. I just want to rest and recuperate."
