Andy Roddick avoided the cull of leading seeds at Queen's, winning a hard-fought victory over fellow big server Mario Ancic. The number one seed took the first set on a tie-break but Ancic hit back to take the match into a third set.
Roddick took an early break in the decider and was never troubled as he served out for a 7-6 (7/3) 4-6 6-4 win.
The tournament has already lost second seed Guillermo Coria, third seed Andre Agassi, and fourth seed Tim Henman.
Also through to the last eight are Radek Stepanek and Henman's conqueror Karol Beck.
