Third set
Henman 4-6 6-4 2-6 Ljubicic:
Henman begins his service game with a weak volley into the net and things go from bad to worse as another error sees him go 30-40 down. He saves the match point with a brave second serve but has to face another after netting a forehand. Henman then slices a forehand wide and his tournament is over.
Henman 4-6 6-4 2-5 Ljubicic:
Henman hurls his racquet to the ground as a net-cord works against him and Ljubicic holds. The top seed is within a game of going out.
Henman 4-6 6-4 2-4 Ljubicic:
Henman nets an approach shot to go 15-30 down and then throws his racquet down after splaying a forehand wide to give Ljubicic two break points. The Croat needs just one, driving a ball down the line, forcing a volley error from Henman.
Henman 4-6 6-4 2-3 Ljubicic:
Break points have been scarce throughout the match and the deciding set is again being dominated by serve. Ljubicic has another comfortable hold.
Henman 4-6 6-4 2-2 Ljubicic:
Ljubibic changes his white shirt for a red one at the changeover but does not make any inroads into Henman's serve. Top seed Henman is looking much more comfortable on his serve now.

Ljubicic again uses his fierce serve to ease through the game with the minimum of fuss.

Henman is up and running in the final set with a comfortable hold.

Ljubicic looks in a spot of trouble at 15-30 but extricates himself to hold in the opening game of the deciding set.
Second set
Henman 4-6 6-4 0-0 Ljubicic:
Henman is soon at 40-15 and needs just one of his set points, clinching it with a strong first serve.
Henman 4-6 5-4 Ljubicic:
After the blip of his previous service game, Ljubicic gets back on track on serve, not dropping a point as he holds. But he needs to break Henman's next game to stay in this set.
Henman 4-6 5-3 Ljubicic:
Henman looks much more purposeful now and has found more rhythm on his first serve. He holds to 15 to move within one game of levelling the match.
Henman 4-6 4-3 Ljubicic:
The scare in the previous game seems to have given Henman a new lease of life and he shows much more aggression on the Ljubicic serve, attacking the net whenever he can. A cheeky forehand pass gives the British number one his first break point of the match and Henman raises his arms in triumph as Ljubicic nets to concede his serve.
Henman 4-6 3-3 Ljubicic:
Henman's fifth double fault is followed by another error and he is facing a break point. But the Briton comes up with a good first serve and then a superb volley saves another break point, allowing him to go on to hold.
Henman 4-6 2-3 Ljubicic:
As the match passes the one-hour mark, Ljubicic cruises through his service game. Henman again looks frustrated as he bemoans another unforced error.
Henman 4-6 2-2 Ljubicic:
Another inconsistent game from Henman but he holds to stay in contention.
Henman 4-6 1-2 Ljubicic:
Still Henman cannot make any headway on Ljubicic's serve and the Croat enjoys another untroubled hold.
Henman 4-6 1-1 Ljubicic:
Henman shrugs off the disappointment of losing the first set to hold his opening service game in the second.
Henman 4-6 0-1 Ljubicic:
The crowd in the Rockodromo is still pretty sparse as Ljubicic eases through the first game, not dropping a point.
First set
Henman 4-6 0-0 Ljubicic:
Henman begins the game with a delicate angled drop-shot but soon lets out a howl of anguish as what he thinks is an ace is called out and becomes a double-fault. An unforced error from the Briton produces the first break point of the match - and it is a set point for Ljubicic. Henman saves it with a reflex volley that he does not know much about. But the fates then go against him when Ljubicic earns another set point with a lucky net-cord. And this time the Croat converts it to take the opening set.
Henman 4-5 Ljubicic:
Another couple of booming serves from Ljubicic as he races to 40-0 up. Henman pulls it back to 40-30 but still shows no sign of coming to terms with the Croat's serve.
Henman 4-4 Ljubicic:
Serving with new balls, Henman drops the opening point and again struggles to find any consistency, following excellent volley winners with unforced errors. He is again taken to deuce but manages to hold.
Henman 3-4 Ljubicic:
Another good service game from Ljubicic, who has dropped just four points in his opening four service games. Henman is showing signs of frustration, berating himself after making a couple of unforced errors.
Henman 3-3 Ljubicic:
Ljubicic over-rules the line judge to give Henman the point after the Briton's serve is called out - a sporting gesture especially as the replay suggests the original call was correct. It seems irrelevant as Henman goes to 40-0 up but the Croat fights back to deuce. However, Henman holds his nerve, clinching the game after a marvellous point in which he has to scurry around the court retrieving the ball before slipping it down the line for a winner.
Henman 2-3 Ljubicic:
Another straightforward game for Ljubicic, who comes up with a lovely backhand crosscourt winner and follows up with a beautifully controlled backhand volley to take the game without dropping a point.
Henman 2-2 Ljubicic:
Both players have looked unhappy at some of the calls and Henman gives one of the line judges a hard stare after one point. But he cruises to 40-0 and despite then serving a double fault, finishes off the game with an angled drop-shot.
Henman 1-2 Ljubicic:
Ljubicic plays a solid service game to hold with ease.
Henman 1-1 Ljubicic:
Henman quickly goes 30-0 up but then double-faults and the game goes to deuce but the British number one comes through to hold.
Henman 0-1 Ljubicic:
Henman begins in fine style with a service return winner down the line but Ljubicic responds with an ace. The Croat goes on to hold.
