Rubin had been seeded fifth for the Indian Wells tournament |
America's Chanda Rubin was forced to withdraw from the Indian Wells women's tour event just hours before it started on Wednesday because of a knee injury. Rubin, seeded fifth for the tournament, has been troubled by a recurring problem in the left knee for some time.
Last month she had to abandon her semi-final match in the Pan Pacific Open against Magdalena Maleeva of Bulgaria.
"I'm really disappointed but it's something that needs to heal on its own," the world number nine explained.
