Venus to bypass Dubai
Venus Williams in action at the Proximus Games
Williams has been playing in Antwerp this week
World number two Venus Williams has pulled out of next week's WTA Dubai Tennis Open.

Tournament officials said that the American had cited a change of schedule as the reason for her withdrawal.

"Venus Williams' agent informed us that she has had to change her schedule and unfortunately Dubai was dropped," said a spokesman for the event.

Williams has been in Europe this week, competing in the Proximus Diamond Games in Antwerp.

Top seed for the US$1m Dubai event is the Belgian Justine Henin-Hardenne.

Jennifer Capriati, Monica Seles and defending champion Amelie Mauresmo will also be competing in the tournament at the Dubai Tennis Stadium.
