Robin McBryde is expecting a tough match against Canada

Caretaker coach Robin McBryde insists caps are not being given out cheaply on Wales' north American tour.

Wales have named an inexperienced side to face Canada on Saturday, including new caps Jonathan Davies and Dan Evans.

Also included on the replacements bench are rookie trio Craig Mitchell, Jonathan Spratt and Sam Warburton.

"It's not a decision we have taken lightly with regards selection. We feel that you need to earn the right to wear the shirt," said McBryde.

"It is important that we had a sprinkling of experienced players as well as keeping one eye on the future, and giving players, who have shown some potential during the season, a chance to come through."

606: DEBATE

McBryde knows that Canada will be a tough match for his young Wales side, especially as Six Nations champions Ireland only came through 25-6 winners in Vancouver last weekend.

"[Canada] have made it very hard for us in the past and we are not expecting anything less. It will be a test as Ireland found out last week," he admitted.

"We have had a chance to look at the tapes and they [Canada] were in it up to an hour before losing out to a breakaway try.

"So they will have been buoyed by that and they will be confident in the way they approach the game.

"They have got one game under their belt. They will be able to improve on that performance.

"They have got us in their sights. So we have to be at our best which is why getting that balance of experience and developing some young talent."
