Shane Williams winces in pain after injuring his ankle on Sunday
Wales skipper Ryan Jones says team-mate Shane Williams will pull out of Saturday's clash against England if his ankle injury does not clear up.
Williams has been named in Wales' starting line-up, but has a fitness test on Friday.
Jones said: "Shane's... been around long enough to know that if it's not right the best thing for him and the team is to pull out."
Jones added: "He'll make the right decision over the next couple of days."
England are a scary team says Ryan Jones
Jones, who expects to switch to number eight if Andy Powell [calf] is ruled out, says he would rather see Williams in the team if possible.
However, he is also confident stand-by wing Mark Jones would be able to perform well at Test level following an eight-week absence due to appendicitis in the event of Williams's withdrawal.
"It's a much, much happier place going into a game with Shane Williams than without," said Jones.
"But the exciting thing for me as captain is seeing Mark Jones with the bit between his teeth and if anyone deserves a chance and a run in this team, it's him and he'll be a huge asset to us as well."
Jones went on: "Andy's going to sit out training today [Thursday] to make sure he's in one piece.
"I've spoken to Warren and if Andy did pull out, I'd move across to eight and Daf [Dafydd Jones], I'd imagine, would come in at number six.
"But again we are all comfortable playing in this team and we all know what's required to fit in, fulfil each other's roles and do that jersey proud. So it would be very much business as usual."
