Tom Shanklin gets to grips with Gurthro Steenkamp in June
Ieuan Evans believes world champions South Africa present Wales' best chance of an autumn win over the southern hemisphere big three.
The former Wales captain says New Zealand look too strong for Wales after lifting the Tri-Nations title.
"South Africa are still unsure what sort of game they want to play," the former Wales captain told Scrum V.
"Also, a lot of their players are looking tired. Butch James has played two years of solid rugby."
Added Evans: "South Africa is the best chance of a win. Australia are probably the most innovative (of the three) and New Zealand are going to be a handful."
Wales have only beaten South Africa once in their history and have not won against New Zealand since 1953.
They start their autumn internationals by hosting South Africa on 8 November, then play Canada on 14 November, New Zealand on the 22nd and Australia on 29 November.
