Leigh Halfpenny inspired Wales to a dramatic last-gasp win over France to set-up a mouth-watering knock-out showdown with favourites New Zealand.

The Blues winger's superb 18-point haul ensured hosts Wales finished top of IRB Junior World Championship Pool D with a 100% record.

Wales will now play the mighty All Blacks at Rodney Parade on Wednesday.

Wales' win, though, was marred as both teams were embroiled in a brawl after the final whistle in Swansea.

France looked in control in the second period as they led comfortably thanks to an equally impressive 14-point personal haul by fly-half Mathieu Belie.

Winger Benjamin Fall scored France's try but Halfpenny's late, late show stole victory for Wales.

The hosts were awarded a penalty try inside the final five minutes as they looked to complete an unlikely comeback.

Then Halfpenny was in the right place at the right time the 19-year-old was set free on the right wing to dive over in the corner to secure an amazing triumph in the sixth minute of injury time.

Halfpenny kicked both conversions and three penalties to ensure a man-of-the-match display that guided Wales to the top of Pool D.

Their knock-out opponents New Zealand convicingly thrashed Argentina 60-0 in Cardiff to follow on from their 65-10 success over Ireland and 48-9 opening win against Tonga.
