Wales sevens to clash with Kiwis

Wales face the might of New Zealand in the Hong Kong sevens quarter-final.

Wales' two Pool D wins out of three ensured they're one of the two best runners-up and play Pool A winners and favourites New Zealand on Sunday.

Wales lost 15-0 to pool winners Fiji on Saturday morning after emphatically beating Korea and Zimbabwe.

Ratunasia Narukutabua and Lepani Nabuliwaqa scored either side of the break for Fiji before William Ryder's great individual capped the win.

Wales trounced Korea 34-5 as Gareth Owen, Jonathan Evans, Aled Brew and Lee Williams scored in the opening period as Wales raced into a 24-0 half-time lead.

Richie Pugh and Williams made the Welsh win more comfortable with a try apiece after the break before Lee Jung-Min scored a consolation for Korea.

Wales had previously defeated Zimbabwe 34-0 on the opening day in a six-try rout.

But Wales now must play New Zealand who stretched their record wnning streak in the IRB Sevens World Series to 39 with their 47-7 victory over the United States.

The Kiwis can all but wrap up their eighth world title in nine years in Hong Kong before the party heads to Australia for the Adelaide Sevens, where Wales face Samoa, Tonga and Japan.
