Wales full-back Lee Byrne has been a Six Nations revelation |
Lee Byrne has praised Ospreys coaches Lyn Jones and Sean Holley for transforming his Wales career. The full-back starred in Wales' 47-8 Italian rout on Saturday and hailed the impact of his regional coaches after being axed from the World Cup squad.
Byrne said: "After the disappointment of missing out on the World Cup I went back to the Ospreys and had a chat with Lyn and Sean and we set a few goals.
"I wasn't going to hang around and let the disappointment linger all season."
Byrne has been a revelation in this Six Nations and his two tries against Italy added to his score in the shock opening win against England at Twickenham.
Man of the match Byrne enjoyed a solid display under the high ball against the Azzurri and produced a successful tactical kicking game.

The 27-year-old puts his dramatic improvement down to hard work under Ospreys head coach Jones and assistant Holley after former coach Gareth Jenkins left him out of Wales' World Cup squad.
Byrne said: "I knuckled down and it's now paying off.
"Each game is getting better for me and I was pleased with my performance against Italy.
"But I was equally pleased with the team performance and that was more important than my personal display.
"There are three key elements to a full-back's play and I want to be as rock solid as I can be.
"I'd like to catch every ball but I'm not going to, some I'll get and some I won't.
"But it just went well against Italy and I got the bounce of the ball and I thought our overall performance was excellent.
"It was definitely our game plan to keep the ball on the park and in the second-half it paid dividends because they were blowing and ran out of ideas and we came through strongly."
