Ulster 8 (8)

The Scarlets recorded a bonus-point victory over Ulster with an impressive display at Stradey Park.

The Welsh side established a 22-8 first-half lead courtesy of tries from Matthew J Watkins, Jonathan Edwards and Deacon Manu.

Tommy Bowe scored a try for Ulster on on the half-hour, but the Scarlets always looked in control.

Welsh wing Mark Jones sealed the bonus point for the Scarlets as they continue to surge up the Magners League.

Ulster had taken a 14th-minute lead through the boot of Paddy Wallace, but once Rhys Priestland replied with a Scarlets penalty three minutes later, the home side never looked back.

Scarlets wing Watkins got the first try of the evening, finishing off a flowing three-quarter move he ran unchallenged down the wing to dive over in the corner.

Centre Tommy Bowe replied for Ulster on the half-hour, breaking through weak defence to get his side back in the game.

But the Scarlets took just a couple of minutes to respond with young flanker Edwards showing great promise to power through and cross for 15-8.

Ulster then had Neil McMillan sent to the bin just before the break.

And to compound their misery Manu went over on the stroke of half-time, smashing through a bewildered Ulster defence to increase the Scarlets advantage.

Priestland sent over his second conversion of the half to give the home side a 22-8 advantage at the break.

Phil Davies' side took just five minutes after the re-start to gain the bonus point with Wales wing Jones diving over under the posts for their fourth try of the match.

Priestland sent over the conversion and a late penalty to extend the score and secure victory for the west Wales region

Scarlets coach Phil Davies:

"It is great to come home and win the game so convincingly.

"We were excellent tonight and I'm pleased that we go into this mini-break with 10 points from two games.

"The team is playing well and as a result individual players are standing out. But in particular our front-row was excellent.

"They are providing the platform for us to play off our set-piece."
