Lions, Wales and Pontypool prop great Graham Price says he was delighted to have been made an MBE on the Queen's Birthday Honours List. "It is really like winning my first cap again, it's that sort of experience," said the 55-year-old.
"When I stopped playing in 1983 I thought all the recognition would end."
Price formed one-third of the feared Pontypool and Wales front row with Bobby Windsor and Charlie Faulkner, nick-named the 'Viet Gwent'.
He played in the Welsh team which won the 1978 Grand Slam and went on to win 41 Wales caps, adding 12 successive Lions Test appearances on the 1977, 1980 and 1983 tours.
In 2002 the Welsh public voted him into the greatest Wales team of all time.
He said he would be putting the MBE in his trophy cabinet with his jerseys and caps.
"Noel Williams, who played for Pontypool before me, takes the credit for this because he put a huge amount of work into securing this honour for me," said Price.
