Full-back Lee Byrne has recovered swiftly from a knee injury |
Former Wales full-back Garan Evans says all eyes will be on Lee Byrne this weekend following Kevin Morgan's broken jaw in the 21-9 defeat in Scotland. Byrne has made a quicker than expected recovery from a knee ligament injury and is a ready-made replacement at 15.
If he proves his fitness in Saturday's Magners League match with Connacht, Byrne could start for Wales in France.
"Lee could be straight in for Wales as full-back, other than that you're looking at Gavin Henson," Evans said.
Wales coach Gareth Jenkins is under pressure after losing both opening matches in the RBS Six Nations, and without scoring a try.

The next match is on 24 February, when Wales travel to Stade de France to face Grand Slam-chasing France.
Injuries, especially in the backs, and Gareth Thomas' suspension have damaged Wales' preparations and Jenkins will be looking to the Ospreys for some relief.
The Ospreys name their team on Thursday to face Connacht, with 11-cap Byrne seemingly an ideal replacement for Morgan should his fitness be proved.
Also in the frame is Henson, who was touted before the championship as a possible make-weight at full-back for Wales.
But a lack of form and low confidence have seen the Lions tourist miss out on both Six Nations match-day selections so far.
"I don't know what the Ospreys are planning, but Gavin needs to prove himself and get a good game," Llanelli Scarlets full-back Evans added.
Along with Byrne's return to action, wing Shane Williams will play for the Ospreys after overcoming a frustrating side strain and illness.
Williams has 28 Test tries to his name and his absence from the Wales side has also been sorely missed.
