Full-back Ben Blair has won four New Zealand caps |
Cardiff Blues have signed former New Zealand full-back Ben Blair, as well as Scott Morgan and Mosese Luveitasau. Goal-kicker Blair won four caps for the All Blacks between 2001 and 2003 and won three titles with Canterbury before being drafted to Otago two years ago.
But the 27-year-old has just endured a disappointing Super 14 season after again being loaned to the Highlanders.
Lock Morgan, originally from Neath, has been released from Leeds Tykes, while Luveitasau is a Fiji winger.
Luveitasau, 26, has been capped six times, scoring three tries, and was part of the Fiji team that lost narrowly to Wales at the Millennium Stadium in November 2005.
Former Wales Under-21 cap Morgan - a 6ft 7ins, 27-year-old lock - has previously played for Neath, Bristol and Llanelli and was also thought to have interested the Scarlets and Ospreys
Blair, who has signed a three-year deal, made his All Blacks debut in November 2001 against Scotland, with his last cap coming against Wales in Cardiff two years later.
The trio join Taufa'ao Filise and Gary Powell as the new recruits to the Arms Park for next season.
The Blues have also handed regional contracts to hooker Duane Goodfield and scrum-half Wayne Evans, both of Pontypridd.
Blues chief executive Robert Norster said: "With the addition of these new signings we can look forward to the new season with real confidence."
