Jones' groin problem has taken longer than expected to heal |
Wales and Scarlets flanker Dafydd Jones is eager for action following the groin problem that cost him a possible place on the Lions tour. The 26-year-old has been out since the 11-9 win over England on 5 February, allowing Ryan Jones to claim his Wales spot and go on to a Lions Test place.
But after a long period of rest and recuperation, Jones is keen to return.
"The recovery hasn't been as quick as I would have hoped, but I'm aiming for the start of the season," he said.
"I am back in the fourth week of rehab now and doing a lot of fitness work.
"I'm not really able to do everything yet, but in the next four weeks I'll look to put myself under more stress.
"I have been taking advice from the medical guys and they've been telling me I've got to take it easy.
"If I come back too quickly it could go again and that would be a disaster.
"Touch wood, the injury has settled down all right now and the specialists are happy with where I am at the moment."
The Scarlets have awarded ex-Wales lock Chris Wyatt a testimonial for the coming season.
