Wales and Scarlets flanker Dafydd Jones has been ruled out for three months with ligament damage in a finger. Jones picked up the injury on Friday in the Scarlets' 21-15 Celtic League defeat to Edinburgh at Stradey Park.
The 26-year-old lasted just over an hour in his first match since picking up a groin injury in Wales' win over England last February.
He had an operation on Tuesday but he will not be fit in time for Wales' autumn internationals.
Said Scarlets director of rugby Gareth Jenkins: "It's hugely disappointing for us but more importantly it's a devastation as far as Daf is concerned.
"It was a big comeback this season for him, something he's really been looking forward to having missed most of last season and the celebrations that went with the Six Nations win.
"He took a knock which resulted in a ligament snapping in his finger which then retracted into his arm.
"There was no alternative really - it was either losing the use of that finger or having surgery to bring the ligament back into the finger and repairing it."
