Wales record try scorer Gareth Thomas will complete his move to Toulouse after the Welsh Rugby Union shelved its dispute with the French giants. The WRU wanted a 100,000 fee agreed with the Celtic Warriors, but Toulouse said they did not have to pay after the regional team was scrapped because Thomas was no longer under contract.
"The WRU will sign the release forms," said WRU chairman David Pickering.
"It was never our intention to treat Gareth as a pawn in this dispute."
Both sides sought legal advice to clarify Thomas' situation, with Toulouse confident that a court would consider the player to be a free agent.
However, Pickering confirmed that while the WRU was happy to let Thomas complete his move it is still unhappy with the deal and would continue to seek some sort of redress.
"There is still a dispute over the terms of his contract to be resolved," Pickering added.
"We have a very good relationship with the FFR (French Rugby Federation) and will be working with them to settle the matter with Toulouse.
"We are taking a mature stance on this issue and we have taken into consideration Gareth's welfare.
"We are signing the agreement to enable him to continue his illustrious career, rather than stymie his chances of playing in the future.
"He is a very fine player who has always been a wonderful ambassador for Welsh rugby both on and off the field."
