Former Ponty favourites Sweeney and Jenkins will retun to Sardis

The Warriors will play Munster in a Celtic League match at Pontypridd's Sardis Road at the beginning of April.

"We're delighted. It's an opportunity for our supporters to rally round and turn up in large numbers," Pontypridd director Cenydd Thomas told BBC Sport.

Warriors backer Leighton Samuel decided to stop playing at Sardis last November after criticising its facilities.

He said the Brewery's Field, with its 16 hospitality boxes, offered better hope of generating much needed funds for the region.

The Warriors side was originally a partnership with Bridgend and Pontypridd rugby clubs, but Ponty were forced to relinquish its 50% share last October after going into voluntary administration.

Relations between the two clubs deteriorated, and Pontypridd fans accused Samuel of freezing them out of the new regional set-up.

But, after appointing a new board of directors in December, Pontypridd sought to find ways to increase its role in the running of the Warriors.

"We accept we're not in a position to renew the partnership that we once had, but we want to support the region in every possible way both on and off the field," explained Thomas.

"We recognise the worth of regional rugby and were always seeking to play a supportive part with the Warriors.

"I wrote to Leighton requesting a meeting and his board agreed to meet us. It was an extremely positive meeting and we're heartened by it all."

The match against Munster at Sardis Road is scheduled for Saturday, 3 April.
