Ponty seek Warriors return
Celtic Warriors
Cennydd Thomas wants the Warriors back at Sardis Road
Pontypridd board member Cennydd Thomas is seeking a meeting with the Warriors in the hope of getting the regional side back to Sardis Road.

The ground share between Sardis and the Brewery Field was ended last month because of poor facilities in Ponty.

Thomas insists they are capable of hosting regional games and wants to meet Warriors boss Leighton Samuel.

"There may be games where Bridgend doesn't sell out and it would be better to come to Sardis Road," said Thomas.

Samuel says he will not use Sardis Road because of a lack of hospitality boxes.

The Brewery Field has 16, which will reportedly generate 33,000 from the Warriors' Heineken Cup match against London Wasps next month.

"I take Leighton's point, but we have hospitality facilities in our grandstand, plus a good stand and terraces so we could cope with regional games," Thomas told BBC Sport Wales.

"We could bring back dedicated hospitality boxes, but that would need extra funding.

"I have been trying to get in touch with Leighton and hope that relations between Bridgend and Pontypridd can be restored as they always used to be, not as we have seen in the last 12 months.

"The Warriors is a business venture for Leighton, but we feel we can contribute."

Samuel's favoured long-term option for the Warriors is an all-new 15,000-seater stadium at Treforest, and Thomas suggested that Pontypridd would be prepared to back this move.

"I would be sad to see Sardis Road go, but in the future that may be inevitable," he said.
