Perpignan's Christophe Porcu has been banned for five weeks after being found guilty of "unacceptable and unprovoked" behaviour against Celtic Warriors. The Warriors cited the lock for three punching incidents after Perpignan's win in the Heineken Cup on 13 December.
Porcu was cleared of one charge because of lack of evidence, but was condemned by the panel for two incidents.
"These offences were cynical, unacceptable and unprovoked," said panel spokesman Douglas Hunter.
"These off-the-ball incidents could have caused serious injury."
After watching the video of Perpignan's 26-19 win, Warriors' assistant coach Allan Lewis said he was "appalled" by what he saw Porcu doing.
"He was going round thumping people and I felt they were very cowardly shots," he told BBC Sport Wales.

Two of the incidents related to punches on Warriors tighthead Gethin Jenkins and one on loosehead Christian Loader. "We looked at certain incidents and it was gratuitous violence, there's no other word for it," said a furious Lewis.
"I was appalled when I saw what he was doing on video."
The costs of the hearing were awarded against Porcu, who has the right of appeal.
