Wales had been keen to close the Millennium Stadium roof for Saturday's game

Scotland coach Andy Robinson has defended his decision to prevent Wales from closing the Millennium Stadium roof for Saturday's Six Nations match.

Rules state the roof can only be closed with the agreement of both sides - and Wales head coach Warren Gatland is unhappy at Scotland's stance.

Robinson said: "I think it's an advantage to Wales playing with the roof closed, they're used to doing it.

"We are abiding by the rules, we've made the request, let's deal with it."

Both sides go into Saturday's clash in Cardiff looking for their first wins of the Six Nations campaign.

Wales suffered defeat by England at Twickenham while the Scots lost at home to France on the opening weekend.

And Robinson is determined to avoid the Welsh having any kind of pre-match advantage going into the game.

"The rules state that if we want to have the roof open then we can have that," said the Scotland coach.

"They're used to closing the roof in front of their home support. But we're used to playing not under those conditions."

Scotland captain Chris Cusiter denied their stance meant they were praying for rain this weekend.

"If you look at the style of game that Scotland want to play then it wouldn't make sense if we want wet conditions," the scrum-half said.

"I think we just want a natural atmosphere to play in. Personally, I'm not bothered if the roof is open or closed.

"If Andy's made that choice then that's up to him."

Wing Leigh Halfpenny and lock Jonathan Thomas have been recalled to the Wales team to face the Scots.

After starting against England in Saturday's opening 30-17 defeat, Tom James and Luke Charteris drop out of the 22-man squad completely.

Lock Alun Wyn Jones retains his place despite suggestions he could be dropped as punishment for his yellow card.

Scotland have recalled Dan Parks, Euan Murray and Rory Lamont and dropped Phil Godman, Moray Low and Max Evans.

Sean Lamont switches to centre in place of Evans, with Rory Lamont taking his brother's spot on the left wing.

Parks replaces Godman at fly-half and, as expected, Murray takes the place of Low - who is left out of the 22 - after the 18-9 defeat by France.
