Ian McGeechan's men have had a troubled few weeks

The Scots, preparing for their must-win Pool D game with Fiji on Saturday, have moved out of their hotel in Cronulla in favour of a city hotel.

Two weeks ago, the Scottish party left their base in Caloundra in Queensland after discovering a Hell's Angels-style biker gang was to be sharing their hotel before their match against the USA.

It is understood a drunken reveller gatecrashed a team meeting at the beach-side Cronulla hotel before Scotland's dismal 51-9 defeat to France last Saturday.

Rydges Hotel Cronulla general manager Andrew Cooper said: "We had the Namibians here with no complaints. Princess Anne didn't seem to have a problem when she had lunch."

The unscheduled accommodation switch is the latest blow in a disappointing World Cup campaign for the Scots.

Ian McGeechan's side struggled against Japan, have lost key flanker Andrew Mower through injury and experienced flanker Martin Leslie with an eight-week suspension and suffered a record defeat to France.

There has also been a fall-out with the travelling Scottish media, which culminated in the release of a statement by team officials defending their public relations staff.
