Williams given all-clear
Ali Williams soars high to claim a line out
Williams wins plenty of line out ball for the All Blacks
New Zealand second row Ali Williams has been passed fit for their World Cup campaign.

The All Blacks waited until the last moment before allowing him to join the touring party, which flew out on Wednesday.

Williams broke a bone in his right foot and has been wearing a protective boot.

But the team confirmed Williams had been given the all-clear to play.

Inside centre Aaron Mauger, who had been nursing a groin injury, was also passed fit.

Neither player is likely to take part in New Zealand's opening pool D match against Italy in Melbourne on Saturday.

Williams has played only 10 Tests for the All Blacks but has already cemented his place in the second row alongside Chris Jack.

New Zealand have only three specialist locks in their squad - Brad Thorn, Jack and Williams.

The All Blacks kick off their World Cup campaign against Italy on 11 October.

Their other Pool D opponents are Canada, Wales and Tonga.
