Sanderson lead Worcester through the whole of Mike Ruddock's tenure |
Worcester skipper Pat Sanderson says that director of rugby Mike Ruddock's departure on Wednesday was an emotional experience for all at the club. Ruddock left after three years in charge following Sunday's defeat to Leeds which saw Worcester relegated. But Sanderson insisted: "He leaves here with all of our respect. "When he said his farewell it was a very emotional moment. We all like and respect Mike, it's sad for all of us," he told BBC Hereford and Worcester. "It is very important we move on. We are professionals and we have to be. "There is a lot of emotion and we have to channel that and prove to the supporters we care about this club and show that against Gloucester this weekend." Sanderson knows that it will be the last time several of the Warriors squad will play together. Rico Gear, Matthew Jones, Chris Latham, Ryan Powell and Tom Wood are already confirmed as leaving and more are expected to follow. "What the future holds is not for us to decide," added Sanderson. "We are looking at it as a chance to vent some of our frustrations, and hoping to give the fans something to think about."
