Four of Worcester Warriors' home-grown youngsters have signed new contracts. Centre Alex Grove has signed a two-year deal and flanker Jake Abbott, lock David Lyons and fly-half George Crook have all penned one-year contracts. Director of rugby Mike Ruddock told BBC Hereford & Worcester: "Alex is very professional in everything he does and is an excellent role model. "I'm sure Alex will follow up his man-of-the-match performance against Wasps this season with similar displays." Grove is currently completing his third season at Worcester and has represented Scotland at Under-18, 19 and 20 level. | Andrew Stanley and Gary Meechan continue to run a fantastic academy programme at the club that we are once again reaping the benefits of Worcester director of rugby Mike Ruddock |
The 21-year-old has scored four tries for the senior team this season, including a memorable interception effort against champions London Wasps. Ruddock says all four players thoroughly deserve their new deals with the club and their success is a further indication of the way in which the Warriors academy is run. "Andrew Stanley and Gary Meechan continue to run a fantastic academy programme at the club that we are once again reaping the benefits of," said Ruddock. "Alex Grove has recently signed a new deal on the back of some fantastic first-team performances and we are expecting Jake Abbott, David Lyons and George Crook to follow in his footsteps."
