Powell believes Warriors need to get some momentum into their season |
Worcester scrum-half Matt Powell has said Warriors are looking to kick-start their Premiership season with a win at Sale Sharks on Friday evening. Powell told BBC Hereford and Worcester their recent record at Edgeley Park means they have grounds for optimism. "It's a good ground for us as we've won the last two occasions we've been there," he said. "It's a good opportunity for us while they're missing a few key guys, but I'm sure it won't affect them that much." Sale have a number of players involved in the autumn internationals and the Warriors may have hooker Aleki Lutui available - he has withdrawn from the Pacific Islands squad that will take on France as his wife is due to give birth. Powell said: "We've been away from the Premiership for some weeks now and we built up a bit of momentum in the European games, although the last two EDF games were disappointing. "We've worked hard on our defence in that time so we need to get a win there and build up that momentum, rather than leaving it until after Christmas like we did last year." Friday night's match at Sale is due to kick off at 2000 GMT and there will be full commentary on the game on BBC Hereford and Worcester's FM frequencies and online.
