Latham keen to make season opener

Chris Latham
Latham is due at Sixways in two weeks' time

Worcester Warriors full-back Chris Latham is hopeful he could be fit for the start of the season.

The Australian Test star had been expected to miss the clash with Northampton Saints on 6 September with a torn pectoral muscle.

But Latham is hoping for the green light from doctors to step up his comeback after already embarking on an intensive weight training programme.

"I'm doing everything I can to be fit for the Northampton game," said Latham.

"The club will support me regardless of whether I am fit for the first game or not but I desperately want to make my Warriors debut against the Saints.

"I won't know for sure until I check with the doctor on Friday this week, but I'm staying optimistic."
