Windo has spent 20 years at the top |
For Worcester Warriors veteran prop Tony Windo, the wheel will have turned full circle this weekend. He will play his last ever game for Worcester in the European Challenge Cup Final at Kingsholm, having started his career at Gloucester 20 years ago. Windo will join the Warriors coaching staff next season and admits, of all the big games he has played, Sunday's will rank very near the top. "It's up there, a big game where it all started. It's great," he said. "We have been playing some great rugby of late, and it's been really enjoyable to play in the open style the coaching staff have bought in." "We have played a different style to when John (Brain) was in charge, but we still have the forward power that he instilled in us." Fellow prop Chris Horsman paid tribute to the man known as ' Reg': " I will miss him but I probably won't tell him that. "He's changed next to me for four years and, to be honest, I won't miss his great big hairy body hovering over me when he moves down the corridor into the office. "But he is a true-professional and there's none better. He could have taken it easy in his last season but he's training every day as hard as anyone."
