Matt Powell has seen standards rise in the Premiership |
Worcester Warriors scrum-half Matt Powell says that playing in the Guinness Premiership gets harder every year. He told BBC Hereford & Worcester there is now more pressure with every game.
"Maybe four or five years ago, you could target a couple of areas but every team in the Premiership now has world-class players in every position."
"You have to learn to live with it, [pressure] and not worry too much, as it just puts you off your game."
Powell was criticised by some Warriors fans for a poor showing against his former club Harlequins recently, but was named skipper against Bucharesti, and was back to his best in the win against Bristol.

With his namesake Ryan Powell back to full fitness, Matt says there is competition for the number nine shirt.
"Ryan Powell is a quality player, so there is always someone putting you under pressure for your place.
"I don't know what Ryan's plans are for next year, but if he is to go, then I'm sure the club would bring someone in.
"They might try and bring in an absolute superstar or stick with the nines they've got."
Powell is one of the Warriors' longest-serving players, having joined from Harlequins in 2003, and is set to stay at Sixways until 2010.
