Gear took part in a haka on the pitch after arriving at Sixways |
All Black star Rico Gear was greeted by Maori warriors as he arrived at Worcester for the first time on Monday. Gear was joined by fellow New Zealander Sam Tuitupou, as a traditional Maori 'powhiri' ceremony of welcome took place on the Sixways pitch.
The pair also led a haka in front of the Warriors back-room staff.
"Mike Ruddock told me there were going to be some Welsh girls singing for me, but it made a great reception," Gear told BBC Hereford and Worcester.
"I am looking forward to running out and maybe coming up against some of the boys from back home," he added.
"I haven't played for about six weeks, but I am pretty fit, it's just game time I need, although I do have a bit of toothache at the moment."
