Sale Sharks have boosted their squad with the signing of Nic Rouse from Championship side Nottingham.

The 29-year-old earned a permanent move after a successful spell on trial with the Sharks this summer.

Sharks head coach Mike Brewer said: "The signing of Nic increases my options in the second row.

"He has been training with us for a few weeks and has done very well. He is a very good lineout player in both attack and defence."

Rouse played more than 120 times for Nottingham after joining them from Plymouth Albion in 2006

The former England Counties second row has also played for Caerphhilly and Manchester, and had a brief spell on loan with London Irish.

Nottingham director of rugby Glenn Delaney added: "I always rated Nic as the best second row player in the Championship.

"He will add power and an athletic presence to any pack."
