A specialist has confirmed that Sale Sharks forward Sean Cox is only expected to be sidelined for six weeks because of a knee injury.

It was initially feared that the 24-year-old would miss the first half of the Premiership season having sustained the problem in a friendly against Albi.

A club statement read: "Sean is now expected to be back in action within six weeks.

"The joint was washed out and the knee cap was smoothed back into position."
