Cohen calls for action on gouging

Sale signing Ben Cohen calls on his fellow colleagues to outlaw gouging after the Schalk Burger controversy during the recent Lions test.

Cohen, a World Cup winner with England in 2003, told BBC Radio Manchester players must take responsibility.

"I got into a fight over it and received a yellow card. I said to the player involved afterwards 'You've got a kid, I've got kids.

"I want to see my kids tomorrow, Why would you do that?'"

He added: "Having played in France, biting and eye-gouging is pretty much the norm, and that happens pretty much every game.

"I remember a game in France this season when I was eye-gouged three or four times, it isn't nice and is something I wouldn't do,

"There's a gentlemen's code in rugby, an unwritten rule. Eyes you stay away from."
