Chabal plans to return to his native France at the end of the season |
Sale number eight Sebastien Chabal has admitted he does not know where he will be playing rugby next season after revealing he will leave the club. The 31-year-old France star will leave the Sharks at the end of the current campaign for family reasons and hopes to return to his homeland. He told BBC Radio Manchester: "I met a few clubs, but nothing is done yet. "I'll take my decision before the end of January. I've quite a lot of offers and I will try to choose a good one." | If it was just for me I would like to go to Japan, but now it's time for me to go back to France for (my wife) Sale number eight Sebastien Chabal |
A number of French clubs have shown an interest in Chabal, who has also been linked with a move to Japan. But he said: "If it was just for me I would like to go to Japan, but my wife (has spent) four years here and now it's time for me to go back to France for her." It has been reported the back-row forward could follow outgoing Sale director of rugby Phillippe Saint-Andre to his next club, but Chabal insists he has not signed any contract with a new team and will be disappointed to leave Sale. "I'm a bit sad about that because I'm still on contract with Sale for another year. I enjoy my life here, it's quiet which is good for me. I hope we can win something before I leave."
