Ormsby has signed a two-year deal with Sale Sharks

Sale Sharks have signed 28-year-old lock-forward Kristian Ormsby from Super 14 side Chiefs on a two-year contract.

"I'm pleased he has decided to join us. He is a tough second row who commands respect on the field," said director of rugby Phillippe Saint Andre.

"He has been a consistent performer over the last few seasons in Super 14s and has also represented the NZ Maoris at Churchill Cup level."

Ormsby will join up with his new team in October.

"Kristian is an accomplished lock who has vast experience in Super 14's with both the Hurricanes and Chiefs," said Sale chief executive James Jennings.

"Kristian has also played with great effect at blind side flanker and number eight in his career.

"I am sure he will be a very valuable addition to our squad next season when our main goals will be to achieve success in the Guinness Premiership and the Heineken Cup."
