Ryan Jones led Ospreys to the EDF Cup last season |
Ryan Jones will again captain the Ospreys after being reappointed for the 2008/9 campaign. The Lions back-row, who is also the Wales skipper, led the Ospreys to glory in the Anglo-Welsh Cup last season. "I'm delighted to be invited to continue as Ospreys captain," said the 27-year-old Bassaleg product. "Personally, I believe that my first year in the role went well, and the EDF Energy Cup win stands out as an obvious highlight." Coach Sean Holley said there was no hesitation in the Ospreys management about asking Jones to take the armband once again. | 606: DEBATE |
"The role of captain is a vitally important one in any team and it is important that the person possesses the right characteristics," Holley said. "Ryan excelled as Ospreys captain last season, he really matured into the role over the course of the year and thoroughly deserves the opportunity to continue this year. "He is someone who is highly respected by his fellow professionals and that is something that is crucial. "Ryan leads from the front and provides inspiration to his team-mates while retaining a cool head enabling him to make the right decisions. "He has a clear view and idea of what he expects from his fellow players."
