James Hook has shown his loyalty to the Ospreys |
Wales fly-half James Hook has committed himself to the Ospreys for at least the next four years by signing a contract extension with the Welsh region. The 22-year-old signed from feeder club Neath in April 2006 on a three-year deal, but has now agreed improved terms until the end of the 2010/11 season.
"I am delighted to have re-signed with the Ospreys," said the 15-cap player.
"I have grown up in the area, Ospreys are my local professional side and I could not imagine going anywhere else."
Hook will be a key player for Wales during the upcoming World Cup in France.
However, with the expected return to fitness of fly-half rival Stephen Jones, the Llanelli Scarlets number 10, Hook may be called upon to play at inside centre.
That is the position the youngster, who this week was voted the Welsh Rugby Writers' Association's Player of the Season, cut his teeth on during his bedding-in period at the Ospreys.
Hook was able to celebrate a Magners League title in his first season with the Ospreys, but believes there is more success to come at the Liberty Stadium.
"This region is going to have massive success over the next few years and I want to be a part of it," Hook added.
"We have facilities and a growing fan base that will rival any European side and this makes it a great time to be a player at this region."
