Northampton Saints have secured Wales international scrum-half Martin Roberts and London Irish fly-half Ryan Lamb for the 2011/12 season. Roberts, 24, plays his club rugby for Magners League side Scarlets. Lamb, who is also 24 and started his career at Gloucester, said: "It's not the biggest of places but it has an incredibly strong fanbase. "The club has high aspirations and want to be at the top and as an individual that is obviously great." Before his move to Sunbury, Lamb was part of the Gloucester squad that topped the Premiership table in the 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons. | As a nine it is also important to play behind a strong pack Wales fly-half Martin Roberts |
He added: "I have really enjoyed my time at London Irish and am thankful to the coaches at the club, particularly Mike Catt. "He has definitely had an influence on my game and helped me improve my kicking and tactical play." Roberts made his debut for Wales against Canada in 2008 and has since picked up two more caps in the 2010 Six Nations campaign. He said: "The prospect of playing Premiership rugby is exciting. "As a nine it is also important to play behind a strong pack, which the Saints have at the moment. "I've watched Saints games on TV and it is always a full house, and even when they went down for the season they had massive crowds, which speaks volumes."
